I wanted to pop in and share a little update, and maybe a little heart talk too. This week has been a mix of progress and pause. I’ve still been working out, eating well, and staying consistent with my fasting. But truth be told, I hit a little bump. I must’ve eaten something that didn’t sit right, and my diverticulitis flared up. Yesterday was rough — but praise God, I’m back on track today.
As I’ve been walking through this wellness journey — focusing on my health, staying active, learning more about fasting and foods that fuel me — I realized something.
I’ve been so focused on this part of the journey that I wasn’t giving enough time to the heart of it.
And that’s God.
This journey didn’t start just because I wanted to feel better in my body (although that’s been a huge blessing). It started because I wanted to be whole — body, mind, and spirit — and to grow closer to the Lord through it all.
I love my routines. I thrive on structure. So every morning before I break my fast at noon, I do my best to sit with the Lord — read my Bible, pray, just be still with Him. But this past week? I’ll be honest: I’ve been rushing it. Giving Him some of my time, but not my best time. Maybe you’ve been there too?
It hit me hard — I don’t want to just check God off the list in the morning like He’s part of my to-do’s. He’s not a task. He’s my Father. My help. My peace. My strength. And He’s worthy of more than a rushed moment.
So I sat down and wrote out this little devotional for you — for us. Because I know I’m not the only one who gets caught up in the busyness of life, even when that life is centered around good things. We can get so caught up in the doing that we forget why we’re doing it at all.
Let’s slow down together for a minute, and remember what God says about giving Him our time:
Be Still. He’s God.
— Psalm 46:10 KJV Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Sometimes we think stillness is wasted time — but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Stillness before God is a sacred pause. It’s the moment we stop trying to control everything and start recognizing the One who already has it all handled. When we rush, we rely on ourselves. But when we’re still, we remember who’s in charge. And spoiler alert: it’s not us — it’s Him.
When we pause the busyness, the noise, the lists — we open the door to hear Him. He’s always there, but slowing down helps us notice His presence. When I finally stop and breathe, He meets me right there — not because He was far, but because I finally turned my face toward Him.
God doesn’t need us to have it all figured out. He just wants us to look up. The power in this verse is that He’s already God — exalted, sovereign, faithful — we just have to notice.
There’s a Season for Everything.
— Ecclesiastes 3:1 KJV To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
There is so much grace in this verse. It reminds us that we don’t have to do everything at once. Every purpose under heaven has its own time — and that includes rest, prayer, even healing. We often push ourselves beyond what God is actually asking of us. But the truth is, He’s not impressed by how much we can get done in a day. He’s interested in our heart posture.
He’s not asking us to do it all. He’s asking us to walk with Him through it all. When we give Him our time, He aligns our heart and mind with purpose. That’s how we trade stress for peace.
Seek Him First. Not Later. Not Last.
— Matthew 6:33 KJV But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
This verse has always been like a compass for me. When I start my day focused on God, everything else — from my meals to my mood — just runs smoother. But when I try to handle it all on my own and then go to God as a last resort, that’s when I find myself overwhelmed.
Putting God first doesn’t mean the to-do list disappears, but it does mean we tackle it with the right heart, the right mindset, and the right source of strength. When He’s in His rightful place, everything else begins to find its proper order.
Let’s be real — laundry will always be there. So will dishes. So will the million other things we think need doing right now. But when we put God first, He helps the rest fall into place. He brings peace, provision, and clarity to a cluttered day.
Treasure the Time You’ve Got.
— Psalm 90:12 KJV So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Time is one of those gifts we don’t really appreciate until we feel like we’ve lost it. This verse reminds me that every single day is a chance to live wisely — not just productively. When we stop treating our days like they’re endless, we start valuing them more. We spend them more intentionally — with our family, in the Word, building things that last beyond this life.
Let’s not wait until we’re burned out or broken down to realize what matters most. Let’s use the time we’re given to invest in things with eternal weight.
Time is short, friend. Let’s spend it on what truly matters — the eternal things. Our families. Our testimonies. The example we set for our kids and grandkids. They’re watching what we do with our time. Let them see that we choose Jesus first.
Even Jesus Made Time to Be Alone with the Father.
— Mark 1:35 KJV And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
If the Son of God needed time to step away and be alone with His Father — how much more do we? Jesus made space in His day, even before sunrise, to be still and connect with the Father. That quiet communion filled Him, guided Him, and prepared Him for what was ahead.
We don’t need fancy devotionals or perfect conditions. All we need is a willing heart and a few undistracted moments. Find your solitary place — your porch, your kitchen table, even your closet — and just meet with Him.
Our soul needs it. Our spirit craves it. It’s not always easy to carve out the time, but it is always worth it.
Make it a Daily Offering.
— Romans 12:1 KJV Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Every part of your life — your time, your energy, even your struggles — can be worship when you offer it to God. He doesn’t just want the “church” parts of your week. He wants your Tuesday morning, your grocery runs, your tired evenings.
Giving God your time is saying, “You are worth more than my schedule, more than my hustle, more than my comfort.” It’s a daily decision to live for Him and with Him. That’s your reasonable service — and it’s the kind of life that draws others to Christ too.
When you give Him the best part of your day, you’re saying, “Lord, You matter more than anything else.” And He sees that.
Trust Him With Tomorrow.
— James 4:15 KJV For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
We make so many plans — some big, some small — but the truth is, tomorrow isn’t promised. When we give God our time today, we’re showing that we trust Him with what’s ahead. We don’t have to stress about every outcome, every detail, or every step.
Let’s take a breath and live in today, knowing that He’s already working in tomorrow. Let that trust settle your spirit and keep your focus on what really matters.
We don’t know what tomorrow holds, but we do know Who holds it. Giving Him your time today is an act of trust. It says, “God, I don’t know what’s coming next, but I know You’ll be there.”
Start Your Day Looking Up.
— Psalm 5:3 KJV My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
There is nothing like meeting with the Lord in the quiet of the morning. Before the emails, before the errands, before the chaos — just you and Him. When I start my day by looking up, it centers me. It fills me. It reminds me why I’m doing what I’m doing in the first place.
Even a simple “Good morning, Lord. Thank You for this day,” can shift the entire atmosphere of your home and heart.
Before the world demands your attention, give your attention to the One who gave you the day. Just a simple, “Good morning, Lord. Thank You,” can change everything.
Friend, I’ve come a long way in my health journey — by the grace of God. The things I can do now? Bending down, walking faster, putting on my own socks — it’s all Him. So why would I ever rush through my time with the One who brought me this far?
Let’s not push Him aside. Let’s not give Him our leftovers. Let’s make time with God our first priority — because when we do, everything else falls into place.
Thanks for hanging out with me today. I hope this encouraged you like it encouraged me. Take a deep breath, look up, and give Him your heart.
