Hey there, it’s just me! I wanted to drop by and share a little life update—and hopefully encourage you along the way.
Since April 1st, I’ve been on a health journey that’s been all about getting stronger, eating better, and leaning into God’s grace every single day. I’ve been working out regularly, focusing on interval training and now strength training, and I’ve also started back on intermittent fasting. And let me tell you—I feeling so great, better than I have in years!
But this journey hasn’t just been about fitness or food. It’s been about renewal. I’ve been seeking the Lord more, praying for strength and guidance, and asking Him to help me take care of the body He gave me. Without Him, I honestly don’t think I’d have the energy or the discipline to do any of this.
Why Strength Training and Protein Matter (Especially After 50)
Let me be real: I didn’t grow up thinking women needed to lift weights. That was for gym guys, right? Wrong. After digging into research (and learning the hard way), I realized that as women in our 50s—especially post-menopause—we start losing muscle. That muscle is critical for everything: walking, balance, metabolism, and yes, even protecting our bones.
And here’s the kicker—if we don’t eat enough protein while we’re working out, our bodies can’t rebuild that muscle. So not only are we not gaining strength, but we’re actually losing muscle. That shocked me.
So I’m now tracking my protein (between 145–165g a day for me) and focusing on meals that truly nourish me. And it’s working—I feel stronger, my clothes fit better, and I even found some new muscle the other day while showering. (Yes, I got so excited I had to show my husband!)
Real Life, Real Progress
Now, has the scale moved much? Not really. But my energy has skyrocketed. I’m sleeping better (praise the Lord!), I’m not dragging through my day, and even my cravings are changing. Don’t get me wrong—I still want that Twix when hubby’s eating his Whoppers—but I’m finding strength to choose better.
Ladies, if you’ve ever felt stuck, exhausted, or frustrated with your health, I’m here to say: it’s not too late. Your story isn’t over. You can get stronger. You can feel better. And you don’t have to do it alone.
Let God Lead Your Health Journey
This journey I’m on? It’s not just about working out or eating more protein—it’s about obedience and stewardship. The Lord gave us these bodies, and it’s our job to care for them. I’m doing this with Him, through Him, and for Him. And you can too.
If you’ve been thinking about making a change, let me encourage you: seek the Lord first, do your research, and start where you are. Take one step. Then another. Ask God to guide you, and trust that He will.
You are so worth it.
With love and God’s blessings,
Philippians 4:13 (KJV) I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
